Squash Spice Cake
|
Preheat oven to 350. Combine flour, baking powder, soda, and spices. Cream the butter and sugar together until light. Beat in eggs one at a time, mixing well. Beat in dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk and squash. Stir in raisins and nuts. Blend well. Turn into two greased and floured 8x8 inch pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Cool and remove from pans. Cool on racks.

2 C. flour 1/4 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1/4 tsp. cloves 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 C. butter or margarine 1 1/2 C. brown sugar 2 eggs 1/4 C. buttermilk 3/4 C. squash puree 1/2 C. raisins 1/2 C. chopped walnuts
