The Original All-Metal Squeezo Strainer
Quick Facts:
Words from our Pomodoro Residente Esperto di Premere “Resident tomato press expert” “The Original All-Metal Squeezo Strainer has a long history with reliability and build quality. This is the same tomato strainer that has been around for decades. The Squeezo strainer is proudly made in America, and is still built to last. The Squeezo Strainer comes in two kits of your choice, either the original kit or the deluxe kit. The original kit only includes the tomato milling screen, whereas the deluxe kit comes with 2 additional screen the pumpkin and berry screen. The pumpkin screen features larger holes that will accommodate vegetables that require a courser squeeze such as pumpkins and spaghetti squash. This screen is also great for making applesauce as well. The berry screen has holes that are much smaller than the standard tomato screen and this is made to separate the smallest of seeds. The Squeezo Strainer will not separate pomegranate seeds and grape seeds. The Squeezo Strainer comes in your choice of three color: silver or black. These colors are both available on the original model as well as the Deluxe model. The body of the Squeezo strainer is made from cast aluminum. The tomato feed spiral is also made of cast aluminum. This tomato miller is built to last and the build materials show that. The hopper on the Squeezo Strainer is 9 inches in diameter and 4 3/4 inches deep. This is a rather large hopper on a hand cranked tomato miller. The neck of the tomato miller is 2 1/2 inches in diameter, which means you will have to quarter most tomatoes. The tomato feed spiral measures in at 5 and 1/2 inches. This will give a high amount of production for a hand operated tomato miller. The screen is easily removable with the loosening of just two wing nuts. Because this is a hand cranked tomato miller, it does require a place where you can clamp it to. The clamping base on the Squeezo Strainer has a maximum opening of 2 and 1/2 inches. This is a perfect tomato milling machine that will last your family for years to come. The Squeezo name is synonymous with quality. TomatoMilling.com is dedicated to providing high quality tomato millers to our customer. We have a educated staff that is standing by 7 days a week to assist you with whatever you need.”

Remember: this deluxe model has all three straining attachments Squeezo Strainer Specifications The Original All-Metal Squeezo Strainer is made in the USA! It is composed of all-metal parts (except for the rubber gasket and nylon bushing): The body is made from die cast alumninum and the hopper is made from aluminum so it won't discolor, lose its shape, or retain odors. The screens are steel with nickel plating. Your Squeezo Strainer is an extrememly versatile tool. This deluxe kit is an upgraded model that comes with three attachments for different purposes: standard tomato, berry and pumpkin. Simply use the plunger to guide your fruits or vegetables down the hopper and turn the handle to watch your fresh juice escape into the drainer - seed/peel free! For best results and to get the most pulp and juice from your fruits or vegetables, apply GENTLE pressure with the wooden plunger and DO NOT fill the hopper more than half full. If the seeds and skin do not seem as dry as they might be, you can run them through a second time, but this is not expected to be a standard procedure. It may be necessary to clean the screen periodically if you are using it for extended periods of time, such as when processing very large batches of produce. *Squeezo does not work with pomegranates or seeded grapes. The Original, All-Metal Squeezo Strainer was designed by a young die maker from the Abruzzi region of Italy. When he came to America in 1907, he brought his design with him. After years of trying to find a manufacturer willing to take on the project, he finally built a plant in his backyard and, using an old belt-driven steam engine, began to manufacture and sell the first Squeezo Strainers with the help of his wife and 3 children. That was 1919. Slowly but surely, the Squeezo built a reputation until, by the thirties, it had become a favorite in Italian-American kitchens for making wonderful old-country tomato sauces and purees. Others heard about it, and started using it for home canning. The same family - two entire generations - made the Squeezo for nearly 60 years, constantly upgrading production and quality control as more and more Squeezos found their way into kitchens across the country. There are still plenty of 30-year old Squeezos out here hard at work! But in 1978 misfortune struck; the factory in McKeesport, Pennsylvania was destroyed by fire. For various reasons the family was unable to rebuild the factory - they had to sell the business. Garden Way, located in Troy, NY, was a natural choice as a buyer as they had already been selling Squeezos successfully for several years. Garden Way built the Squeezo until it closed its doors in the 1990s, at which time Lemra Products took over manufacturing the Squeezo. Included with the Squeezo Strainer The Squeezo Deluxe Kit comes with all three squeezo strainers: Tomato Screen, Berry Screen and the Pumpkin Screen. The sturdy plunger and large hopper bowl are standard.
A unique recipe booklet also comes with the Squeezo - "We know that you wouldn't have invested in this extraordinary piece of kitchen equipment if you didn't have some purpose in mind. Perhaps the apple crop is overwhelming, the tomato vines are bending double with fruit, the squash is ankle deep and the berry patch is enough for both you AND the birds - whatever the reason, we would like to give you some kitchen-tested theories to put into practice - when you take a breathing spell." The recipe booklet give you ideas on how to use your Squeezo 365 days a year and how to conserve your food. Cleaning and Maintenance of the Squeezo Strainer Cleaning your Squeezo PROPERLY is very important. Be sure to dry it THOROUGHLY before storing it in order to prevent rust. If you process apples, tomatoes and berries with your Squeezo, any rust will react with their natural acidity and this can spoil your food, and is certainly not good to ingest! Take the time to meticulously clean the screens with a stiff brush that can fit into both ends, such as the one provided with your Squeezo. Give extra attention to the end of the screen where the nylon bushing is located - seeds and skin may get lodged in it. REMOVE the rubber gasket to clean thoroughly. Leaving it in place will trap moisture. Be sure to dry your Squeezo and all parts very thoroughly before putting them away. It is also highly recommended that you coat the Squeezo lightly with some vegetable oil or product such as PAM, especially the screens, before storing it in order to further prevent rust and help your Squeezo keep running smoothly. Squeezo Strainer Accessories There are 3 screens included with the Squeezo Strainer Deluxe Kit. The standard Tomato Screen, Berry Screen and the Pumpkin Screen all come with your Squeezo! The standard tomato has a 1/16" hole screen, berry screen has 3/64" holes and separates all but the tiniest seeds, and the pumpkin screen has 1/8" holes for coarser squeezes. All three screens can easily be removed and switched out at any time during your milling process. |
